Prior to building the round house and installing the
ring beams, post holes had to be marked out on
both the inner ring (ring beams) and the outer wall.
The depth of the holes varied between 24” and 18”.
The material the holes are being excavated out of is
a form of shillet making the digging more difficult,
but it will provide a more solid foundation for the
round house once it is constructed.
While some of the volunteers were digging the post
holes, others were transporting the wood from the
car park to the site of the house.
The image below shows only a few of the ‘smaller’
lengths of wood intended for the round house
construction.
